Life & Work with Jasean Childress of Missouri

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasean Childress.

Hi Jasean; thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
So I started in 2019 and didn’t take social media as seriously as I should have my career. I made a video then, and it got 350K views in 2019. Then in 2022, I made a video it hit 15.6 million views, and every video after that was in the millions or thousands. In general, it was just something to do after my long hours of work all day, especially in the army. I never gave up on using myself as a brand and putting myself out there, and there’s still a lot of work that needs to be done before we start.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. When you’re trying to focus and take your career seriously, it’s not going to be easy people aren’t supporting you. They aren’t going to share your content or anything. You are your promoter. Being a content creator and an active duty soldier is stressful because we are limited in what we can say and do under oath. But I didn’t let that stop me from doing what I love and making music and content. People say being in the military, you don’t have time to focus on yourself, and it is somewhat correct you don’t, but I use any downtime that I’m given I use it for myself to promote myself and make myself a business.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a music artist. First, I have a song out and am currently working and trying to find the right team to get my music out more and put more out. I’m mostly known as a content creator on social media or better known as JLEXC on social media for the content that I post. I post real content and am honest; nowadays, social media puts it out to people, especially my age, that we should be rich by 25, have these very nice apartments, and drive the most expensive cars. Still, it’s not about that. I let my fans and supporters know that it’s completely normal to feel out of place in our 20s and struggle because we’re just learning it’s ok if you don’t have the best be happy with what you’re blessed with and make the best out of it. I’m most proud of the effect that my content has had. I’ve had celebrities reach out to me and tell me to keep going, and big social media influencers reach out to me to tell me to keep going with my message, so I’m proud of the way my message is slowly getting around the world.

Is something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I’m an open book, so when it comes to things people don’t know about me, it’s hard to play the piano and guitar. That’s a little secret gem I do every once in a while.
