Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Frencken.
Hi Lindsey, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I officially launched my photography business in 2010, but my journey began a few years before that, simply as a hobby. At the time, I never imagined it could grow into a full-time career. It was actually my husband who encouraged me to take the leap and start treating photography as more than just a passion—and I’m so glad I did. What started as a creative outlet has grown into a thriving business that I now dedicate myself to full-time.
Over the years, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have the support of my family and friends, which has been invaluable in building my business. I own a photography studio based in Knob Noster, Missouri, where I photograph a wide range of portraits. I’ve also had the honor of capturing over 250 weddings throughout my career. What I love most about this work is the people—I get to meet new faces every day and document some of the most meaningful moments in their lives. It’s a privilege I never take for granted.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to where I am today hasn’t been terrible, but it certainly hasn’t been easy either. I started out as a completely self-taught photographer, which meant countless hours of trial and error, research, and late nights learning everything I could on my own. One of the biggest challenges has been the time commitment—photography is an incredibly rewarding but time-consuming career, and it often means long hours away from my family.
That said, every step of the journey has been worth it. It’s taken years to build up the loyal client base I have today, and I’m so grateful for the people who continue to come back and trust me with their memories. I feel especially lucky that many of my clients have become friends over time. Their support means the world to me and keeps me inspired to keep growing.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I take my work very seriously and put my whole heart into every session. My goal is always to create the absolute best photos I can—images that are not only beautiful, but meaningful. I’m especially proud of the strong client relationships I’ve built over the years. I love connecting with people and getting to know their stories, and I believe that connection really shows in the work we create together.
What sets me apart is the experience I offer—personal, professional, and focused on making each person feel seen and celebrated. Many of my clients return year after year, and it means the world to me that they trust me with their most important moments.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The photography industry is always evolving—new trends, new tools, and new ways to connect with clients. One thing that will never change, though, is the importance of emotion. More and more, I see people gravitating toward images that feel something, rather than just look perfect. I think we’ll continue to see a shift toward storytelling—photos that are less posed and more focused on capturing the energy, emotion, and atmosphere of a moment.
Especially in weddings, couples want to remember how their day felt, not just how it looked. That’s something I’ve always been drawn to, and I’m excited to see the industry leaning into it more.
I love trying new things, and I welcome change. Whether it’s experimenting with new techniques, embracing emerging trends, or simply pushing myself creatively, I’m always up for exploring what’s next. The future of photography feels exciting, and I’m ready for whatever comes next!
