Conversations with Jaclynn Beaty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaclynn Beaty.

Jaclynn, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always had a passion for photography, but it sparked in high school. I was one of the editors for my high school’s yearbook and once I picked up the camera, I was in love. Throughout the years I would use cameras from my friends or family but could never purchase one for myself, something kept holding me back.

In December 2019, my fiance gifted me a camera for Christmas, which was totally a surprise because we agreed to a $30 gift limit for Christmas.

Since that Christmas, he has supported me & my growing passion for photography. I started off with taking engagement photos for some friends at work and then I was booking months in advance with strangers I had never met! It has truly been an amazing journey after one full year of pursuing my passion & I can’t wait to see where the next few years will take me!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been smooth for the most part, but I definitely still struggle with time management here and there. I am newly married & work as an RN full time in a local downtown ER so finding ways to be a nurse, a wife & a photographer had its challenges at times. I wouldn’t change it for anything though, I love being busy and it has been so great learning how to balance everything!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I love capturing the authentic moments between couples & families, the laughs, the intimate moments, etc. I truly love all my clients but I really specialize more in couples sessions. Whether that be a proposal, an engagement session, a maternity session or just capturing two people in love! Don’t get me wrong, though, I also love family & newborn sessions!

I have so many sessions & moments to be proud of and I am proud of each and every one of them. I would say I am most proud of my progress. I didn’t think that photography was something I could actually succeed in. So, I would say I am most proud of starting this little business & how far I have come.

I am also booking some weddings this year that I will be capturing solo and I am quite proud of that as well! I spent all last year second-shooting for some amazing photographers and I learned so much. I am so excited about everything this year has in store.

I would say that my love for Jesus sets me apart from a lot of other photographers and I hope that shows during my sessions & with my work.
