Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Deer.
Hi Hannah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I got started in photography alongside my husband in 2014. I was very pregnant with our second daughter when my husband lost his job unexpectedly which was our only income. We began doing photography as a way to make a little bit of money to support our family while he was searching for a new job. The more I learned and the more I shot, the more I fell in love with photography! My husband eventually moved on and I took over the business and made it my own. I love my clients and I love my job! To grow into who I am today, I took the time to learn under other photographers I respected through online mentoring and guides. I now value my growing business and serving my amazing clients!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My biggest challenge in running my photography business is finding balance. One of my favorite things about my job is that I can still stay home with my four young children and homeschool them but that requires a lot of work to balance all of that alongside my business. I have worked hard to set boundaries and set in routines to keep everything on track!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a lifestyle photographer. I specialize in family, newborn and birth photography. I love documenting families and the stage of life that they are in. Being a mom myself means that I understand how quickly these moments go by and how important it is to have them frozen in time. I am proud of the fact that I run a professional business. I do my best to provide a wonderful experience for my clients. I hope that all of my clients would agree that my sessions are both fun and relaxing. I put so much work and time into my art so that my families will have beautiful memories to love forever!
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I love getting to know other artists in the business. It’s important to me that I have other trustworthy and professional photographers I can recommend to clients when I am unavailable. I also love social media support from other artists and being able to support others!
