Story & Lesson Highlights with Josephine Pace

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Josephine Pace . Check out our conversation below.

Hi Josephine, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
I have been baking my entire life.
I really enjoy it even more now that I have retired. When customers ask me ” Do you enjoy baking?” “It’s a lot of work.”
I simply reply to them that baking has saved me, its my “Zen.”

I passed the love on to my two granddaughters who love to bake as I do.
There was an entrepreneur project at my granddaughters school. Middle school level.
She prepared all the goodies, with a little help from her mother.
Her presentation and goodies were phenomenal! She sold out within forty five minutes. She was so proud as we all were.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! My name is Josephine and I have been baking forever.
What first started out as a love for Pecan Pralines, quickly evolved
into a thriving baking business. I have now delved into the bread making stage. There is so much to learn about it. It’s definitely a fine art. I love to challenge myself to try new things.
If the baked products fail my expectations, usually esthetically, I brighten up people’s days by giving them the failed products. The products still taste good. They just dont rise to my expectations. I’m now working on the visual aspect of the products.
Since the eye is the first thing that spies a baked product, the visual aspect, as well as the taste is very important.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
I’d have to say my Italian Mom and Nana. Both who shared their love of baking with me.
They also taught me a lot about life. I was a risky adolescent yet their words of wisdom always echoed in my head. I could tell them anything, and there was never any judgment. Just love, guidance and advice.
Because of them, I grew into a confident , well rounded adult.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
I’d have to say it would be the passing of my grandson Jack Anthony.
Thus the name….Baby Jack’s Pralines & Baked Goods.
I’m healing and dealing the best way I know how through my love of baking.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Family
Friends
God
Animals and
Loyalty, integrity, kindness and trustworthiness.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes absolutely!
I give everything to my baked products when I’m preparing.
I do like to hear the praises of my baked goods, but it’s not necessary. Criticism also helps me to learn and do better.
Many customers never communicate with me if they love the products.
I only know they do as many are repeat customers.
I just know in my heart that I give it my all and nothing can dim that light!
