We recently had the chance to connect with Cristin Chambers and have shared our conversation below.
Cristin , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I have been playing music again! I formed a band with my boyfriend Jason (we are called Shadow & Song) and I sing, play guitar, bass and banjo during our sets.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Cristin Chambers (though I’m also known as ‘PanArt’) and I do mixed media art, murals and tattoos!
As well as painting, I also turn my art into all kinds of creations – like stickers, magnets, prints, pins and suncatchers.
I also tattoo full time and co-own a tattoo shop in Saint Joseph, Missouri. Our shop is called Oracle’s Eye and we offer tattoos, piercings, permanent jewelry and a art gallery.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
An artist!
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Keep creating and pushing forward, even when it doesn’t pay off in the moment, it will all build towards something greater in the future.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I believe everyone deserves a safe and welcoming environment to get tattooed in.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
Opening our own shop was definitely a happy dance moment. Then we applied for and received a grant that allowed us to paint a huge mural on the side of our building and that was a joyous occasion!
Since opening Oracle’s Eye we have had many reasons to celebrate.
