Rising Stars: Meet William Dworzan of Liberty

Today we’d like to introduce you to William Dworzan.

Hi William, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My wife and I have been in the food and beverage industry for 40 years plus and during our time we had the privilege of working with famous chefs like Paul Prudhomme and Gordon Ramsay along with many others. One of the chefs I worked with here in Kansas City was very good at carving ice. He showed me a few things and then gave me the full reins to do all the ice sculptures for our facility. Soon people started asking me if I could make one for their daughter‘s wedding or their retirement party. Next thing you know word got out and we became freelance ice artist here in the Kansas City area. We did this part-time for quite a while as my wife and I both continued working in food and beverage. The demand became overwhelming, and we found ourselves with the decision to go full fledged with our Ice business or keep doing what we were doing with both jobs. We finally made the decision to both give up our careers and bet on us. Now we are the premier ice sculptors in Kansas City. We have clients like arrowhead Stadium, T-Mobile center, Heidi Gardner, Patrick Mahomes, Sporting KC and KC current just to name a few. The rest is history.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s always been very fun and rewarding. It’s always the biggest draw for photo opportunities even beating out the wedding cake. I cannot say that it’s been a bed of roses the whole time. Covid really knocked us on our bottom. Every event we had canceled. And there was no parties for almost a year. It was a sad time for our world. With us being the only Ice sculpting company in Kansas City now there are many times when we have to turn clients away because we just cannot keep up. Also finding people to work in the ice sculpting industry is very challenging mostly everyone that works for us and helps us out we have had to train from the ground up.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an ice artist at heart. I spent many years honing my craft working as a chef and doing ice sculptures for events. It started out with customers asking if I could make one for their daughter’s wedding. It just took off. There was a need I Kansas City for this type of artist. We are proud to say we do the ice sculptures for the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs. Also, KC Current, Sporting KC and all of our Military Facilities just to name a few.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We work with Event Planners, Chefs, Restaurant Managers, Bar Owners, as well as people that have a special event in their lives.
