Today we’d like to introduce you to Vinyl Richy.
Hi Vinyl, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Short BIO:
Vinyl Richy is a Kansas City-based DJ and producer with over 25 years of experience and 3,500+ performances across the Midwest and West Coast. Known for high-energy sets and deep musical knowledge, he has built a reputation as one of KC’s most versatile DJs, equally at home rocking a crowd or curating an experience.

Originally located in Springfield, MO and moved to Kansas City, MO in 2013. Started out making beats and sampling records in 1999, then picked up DJing directly after in 2000 and started playing clubs, bars and events in 2001.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The music world is a bumpy road. There are highs and definitely lows. I have been DJing for 25 years. One of the biggest challenges is continuing to better my craft and gain knowledge while also trying to maintain relevancy as I age.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I started out making beats on drum machines and samplers. I would sample old vinyl records to make beats. This helped me acquire knowledge about obscure music as well as understand how music is created, produced and arranged. Those skills would carry over into my DJing. Coming from vinyl DJing and staying up to date with today’s DJ technology provides the best of both worlds in my opinion. I never look down or rule out technology but I also will never forget where I came from and take for granted how easy DJing has become with technology.
