Rising Stars: Meet Suyoung Lee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Suyoung Lee.

Hi Suyoung, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I came here in Missouri 2019 March from Korea (South) because of my husband’s job in Leavenworth.

I am trying to settle down here and looking for something I can do.

I was working as PMU artist in Korea

I had to do it all over for a license.

2020 covid started… when I started to do an apprenticeship. It took almost a year to get my license.

And I will finally open my studio in February 2021.

My business is growing well. It has just started. I will have a class to teach my skill to PMU artists.

I took full courses in Korea and Missouri.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Covid – language – online marketing – social media everything was different.

I cried a lot… cultural differences…

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Permanent makeup (Microblading)

I didn’t learn just a two day course to become a Microblading artist or any permanent makeup artist.

It took a full course to know all the procedures.

Skin, pigment, color correct, shape, face structure… machine touch, blade use.

I have seen so many places that have microblading service with only 2-3 days course…

I am very skillful and I created my own signature eyebrow – nano combo eyebrows. I am getting more messages to have class with me.

I will do it when I am ready.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Good luck – I have amazing clients who are willing to help and support me. And I have a studio across from Zona Rosa which is a very good and busy place.

Bad luck – every time I am trying to get something someone who is related got sick so I had to wait for 14 days (Covid)
