Today we’d like to introduce you to Sana Shaban.
Sana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am an Iraqi-born content creator, storyteller, and mother of two dedicated to celebrating Middle Eastern culture through food and narrative. After leaving the corporate world, I shifted my focus to my true passions: producing cultural content, sharing traditional Iraqi recipes online, and diving into the literary world. When I am not creating for my digital community or reading, I leverage my love for words as the creative editor for my sister’s upcoming novel.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been bumpy to say the least, being a content creator focused on sharing recipes that celebrate Middle Eastern cuisine, all the while witnessing a war raging in the Middle East took a toll on me, I took a break from posting the past year and a half. My passion for creating food nevertheless grew stronger and louder.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Being born in a typical Iraqi family, I grew up around my mother’s cooking and baking and grew to appreciate the smell of a freshly baked loaf of bread. I remember nights where we gather around a tray of food and a lantern, listening to my father telling us a story or reciting a poem. My true passion is merging food with nostalgia.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I am currently developing a unique cookbook focused on preserved family recipes. I am seeking strategic partnerships with publishers and collaborative creators who share a passion for culinary storytelling.
