Rising Stars: Meet Rikki Franklin of Lee’s Summit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rikki Franklin.

Hi Rikki, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Smithville, MO. I’ve been licensed cosmetologist since 2004. I started hair replacement when I was 20 years old. I started my own business in August of 2025. I can do all hair but I specialize in color and hair replacement. My suite is completely private and very comfortable. I love being creative.

I am married to my husband, David, and live on a 50 acre farm in Oak Grove. I have a son who will be 1 in January. We have cows, ducks, dogs, a horse, and we live to grow food.
I am a houseplant lover. I have over 600 plants (last time I counted) I created and run a private facebook plant group. I organized many activities and sales.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Since August, it’s been slow to start. I am having a hard time getting people in my chair. I do great work, I’m personable, and I work hard. I’m learning how to social media.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I do hair replacement. It’s not a very common thing. Plus it’s a private. My clients dont like to be photographed. I am good at matching colors, custom ordering, and cutting in the systems to where you would never know it’s fake hair.

I love doing vivid hair colors.

I love any kind of color. Pour painting, tye-dye, etc.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I just use facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.

I like the woody show podcast. It has nothing to do with my profession but I like it.
