Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Savage.
Rebecca, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Well, let’ s see here. I went up to the CEO of Made In KC and asked him. “Would you like to have dog collars with the label saying Made In KC for your stores?” He said let me talk to my partner. Couple days later he told me he would love to have custom dog collars in his store. But, with my own business name on them. I was like really, OK! So, that’s when I started to think “What can I name a dog collar business?” It popped in my head, when a friend of mine was with me driving around. “SQUIRREL!” got its name on 6/6/2023. My first wholesale order was from Made In KC.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been a challenge for sure. Finding new stores or boutiques that would like my products in their stores.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My work is all custom products. I buy files from KC designers to print on fabric. Everyone loves my different designs that are cute, funny and sporty. I’m so proud of the support I have received. These are one of a kind dog collars, leashes and bowties.
How do you think about happiness?
That I can enjoy the looks that I get at events I attend. When someone might yell out “SQUIRREL!” across the room lol. Or they find a print that matches their dog’s personality/character.
