Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Hall.
Hi Michael , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I fell into bartending by accident. After finishing school, I briefly pursued a career in audio engineering, but I hated the constant travel. What I thought would be a temporary bartending job turned into a passion, and five years later, I’m still loving every second of it.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s definitely had its ups and downs, like most things do. You learn very quickly that nobody is immune to burnout. Developing stress management skills and taking care of yourself are both essential for longevity in hospitality.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m the Lead Bartender at The Monarch Bar, where we strive to make every drink a celebration and a personal experience. We’re known for curating award-winning cocktail menus and creating unforgettable memories. What I’m most proud of, though, is our staff—any day of the week you’ll be greeted by a friendly face who’s eager to serve you and more than happy to share our menu along with the creative and technical processes behind it.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I mainly listen to music. Throwing on headphones or cranking up Led Zeppelin through our PA system makes any task a lot easier. When it comes to podcasts, I’m into conspiracy theory content—the weirder, the better!
