Rising Stars: Meet Michael Fakuade of Kansas city

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Fakuade

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Michael Damilola Fakuade, a child of God and a portrait photographer based in the Kansas City area. I’m from Ekiti State, Nigeria but i lived in Lagos all my life. I came to the US in 2018 just for the holidays then i decided to come back at the end of 2019 because i had seen a different side of the world which i wasn’t exposed to before. My photography journey started in 2020 due to the pandemic, i had a little knowledge of it and i only dived deeper into it through tutorials on youtube. Today, i’ve been able to niche down to portraits and event photography.
It’s been a great experience photographing people in their essence and true self. I look forward to getter better at what i do and also get into videography by the grace of God

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think my biggest obstacle starting out was knowing what to learn first and landing paying clients. This definitely took a little while due to my lack of experience.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I document precious moments, people in their element and stories. I specialize in portrait and event photography. I’m most proud of my wife, i’m proud of how far she has come. I’m also proud of some of the relationships i got to experience through my business.
What sets me apart is the fact that God is the one leading and instructing me on how to run my business.
The bible says in Proverbs 3 verse 5-6 : Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

This is all i need to do to be set apart.
