Rising Stars: Meet Margherita Gismondi of Sedalia, Missouri

Today we’d like to introduce you to Margherita Gismondi

Hi Margherita , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Margherita, I was born in Venezuela, to Italian parents, and raised in Florida. My dad migrated from Italy when he was 15 years old to Venezuela, My mother was born in Venezuela, her parents migrated to Venezuela a bit before she was born. We moved to the USA when I was 9 years old. I grew up spending my summers in Italy with my grandparents. We moved back to Venezuela when I was 19 for personal reasons and then I decided after a year there to go live in Italy for a bit, I then moved back to Venezuela, and decided to learn French which led to me moving to Marseille for 6 months to brush up on my French. While visiting Venezuela during the time I was living in France, I met my now ex husband, but that is how I ended up in Missouri, of all places, love brought me here and even though things didn’t go the way I hoped, I have two beautiful children because of it and have grown to really enjoy Missouri, especially Kansas City, I live in Sedalia but spend a lot of time in Kansas City. I am an esthetician and permanent makeup artist, my best friend opened up a little studio here in town and encouraged me after many years of being a stay at home mom to work with her part time. I was reminded of my love for esthetics and helping people feel and look their best. My best friend wanted to change career paths and I was all in on the studio so I bought the business and have been doing that ever since. My studio is @pureskincarestudio located at 1400 S limit av in Sedalia.
I also started doing social media, back in June of 2024 I decided I wanted to really try and dedicate time to my page @margheritablogs. I think having such a diverse background, speaking 5 languages, being a mom and business owner, as well as someone who loves traveling made my life interesting enough to maybe get some attention. My page has been growing and has been doing far better than I ever thought it would. I am very grateful for that! and it has motivated me to continue and hopefully eventually turn that into a little side career or maybe possibly a full time career.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think being an immigrant is never easy, people don’t realize the difficulties you go through being an immigrant. My parents went through it, and so did my brother and I. When we moved to the USA we didn’t know the language, we didn’t have family or friends, it was scary and often times very lonely.
My divorce was also a very sad and difficult time, you never think it will happen to you until it does.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an esthetician that specializes in permanent makeup. I own Pure Skin Care Studio in Sedalia. I absolutely love what I do- I take your natural brows and lips and enhance them by adding a touch of color and shape. I think being an artist who works very conservatively has set me apart because most clients don’t want a big bold shape, and I tend to steer away from that! less is more I always say and my clients love that.

I am most proud of my children, they are my biggest accomplishment, my daughter Giuliana is 10 and my son TJ is 6.

I am also really learning to love social media and have enjoyed connecting with people from all cultures and backgrounds through there!

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
It is cliché but I would say take risks, I hope to maybe inspire some readers to take that chance and go after their dreams. I am an immigrant, a single mom who has faced many challenges, but when you are passionate about something, chase it! Good things will come.
