Rising Stars: Meet LoRay Easterwood

Today we’d like to introduce you to LoRay Easterwood.

Hi LoRay, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
The day I became a father was the day I started on the path I am now. I had to completely change the way I thought and how I viewed the world. I started thinking long-term and the bigger picture. My life was no longer about me. It became about my daughter. I wanted to be an awesome role model for her and be able to provide opportunities for her to accomplish whatever she decided to pursue. I wanted to start a legacy that she can eventually partake in and benefit from.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has been an extremely rough path. I became an entrepreneur, which means no more guaranteed paychecks and taking huge risks. Anytime you are trying to build a brand or business, especially in real estate, it can be very costly at first and take a while to gain sustainable income. It takes a lot of faith to work hard and not know when your next paycheck is coming but believe it will all eventually pay off.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a realtor licensed in KS and MO. I specialize in helping families sell and purchase residential homes. I focus more on providing a wonderful experience versus just going through a transaction.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I wasn’t a risk-taker until I became a father. Being a parent changed me completely and I realized very quickly that I had to grow a lot and in order to grow, I had to take more risks and push myself beyond my comfort zones. I took a risk by leaving the corporate world with steady and reliable income and becoming self-employed with no guarantee of income and a lot of start-up costs. The old saying is true, the higher the risk the higher the reward. My newfound risk-taking mentality has definitely been rewarding.
