Today we’d like to introduce you to Kecia Newton.
Hi Kecia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The story of Kecia Newton is a masterclass in defying the odds and redefining
the boundaries of a male-dominated industry. Rising from an impoverished
upbringing and overcoming the lack of traditional support systems, Kecia has
transformed herself into a first-generation graduate, an accomplished author,
and a powerhouse in the construction sector. Driven by a refusal to accept
excuses and a philosophy centered on the power of self-belief, she has
transitioned from a small-scale landlord in 2015 to a high-stakes general
contractor with over $1 million in successful residential flips.
Today, Kecia is on a historic trajectory to establish the first minority
female-owned construction company in the state of Kansas. Her journey is
not defined solely by residential success; she has proven her mettle on the
grandest stages, including a $31 million contribution to a massive $1.1 billion
airport build. By combining technical mastery with a charismatic, “Happy
Hero” persona, Kecia is proving that a woman can not only lead a
construction firm but also do the heavy lifting required to build a legacy. Her
mission is to scale her enterprise to hundreds of employees, proving that with
enough grit and hustle, anyone can change their narrative.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Surprisingly it has in terms of doing what is necessary to accomplish my goals. Outside of learning along the way, that has been trial and error and I have been taken advantage of more times than I can count, which is what led me to learn the trades on my own.
One of the main struggles is being a female in a male dominant field.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in luck. Everything that happens to me, happens for me. I serve a God who is very intentional and all knowing, so nothing it luck or coincidental, it’s purpose and it will always work for my good.
