Rising Stars: Meet Kat Sarmiento and Valentina Gutierrez of Kansas City

Hi Kat and Valentina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Shenergy started from a shared vision between me and Valentina — two women who wanted to bring wellness, creativity, and community together in a way that felt fresh, elevated, and unapologetically us. We both wanted to make pop ups more inclusive, vibrant, and connected to our culture.

We’re an emerging brand that’s growing fast, and every event shows us how much this community needed it.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been easy balancing full-time jobs, limited resources, and building something from scratch but we’ve stayed consistent, led with intention, and trusted our vision. Today, Shenergy is more than just a workout; it’s a space for energy, confidence, and connection. And we’re just getting started.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My background is in public administration and public health, but I’ve always been a creative at heart. Valentina’s background is in health coaching, and today we both serve our community working at a nonprofit while also co-founding Shenergy.

In everything we do our goal is to create spaces that empower and connect people. I think what we are known for is our ability to bring people together and make them feel included and celebrated.

We are proud of the fact that we’ve built something from the ground up as an emerging brand that’s growing fast, all while staying true to who we are. What sets us apart is that our work is deeply personal shaped by our identities, our lived experiences, and our belief that joy, culture, and connection are powerful tools for change. We don’t just plan events; we create moments that make people feel something real.

As entrepreneurs, we understand the struggle, the hustle, and everything in between. We’ve stumbled, we’ve learned, and we’ve kept going.
