Hi Karen, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my company back in 2015 selling kakes in jar. Now 10 years later I offer 146 flavors of kake in many shapes and forms.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth is the least to say lol. In 2021 I suffered traumatic brain injury that caused me to have a concussion in which I still suffered from today. Raytown is my third location and counting. Let’s not forget about COVID and everything that came with it smh.

I pride myself in providing excellent customer service. It’s more than just cake and icing.. I provide an experience! For me it’s about the personal connection with my customers and them knowing that they matter to me. What makes me stand out? Where can you go get 146 flavors of anything? Only at Karen’s kakes
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Word of mouth!! I’ve done every type of of marketing under the sun.. always keep business cards on you.. treat people with respect! Never be afraid to approach someone.. what’s the worst they can say besides no. I’ve been a member of chambers of Grandview, attended kc chambers, mentor with LC gift, member of pba.
