Rising Stars: Meet Juanita Brown of Kansas City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juanita Brown.

Juanita, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Well, I say this quite often, I can’t believe I have started a business and its more successful than I could have imagined. I have always been passionate about my art. It all started with an easy bake oven my mother got me when I was 6! From there my love for sweets grew! Over the years I’ve learned to be imaginative, and I’ve enjoyed experimenting with different recipes, custom designs and flavors. My family and friends have always been very supportive and I couldn’t have done a lot of this without their encouragement!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
my biggest obstacle was ME! I had gain over 60lbs! I wasn’t feeling like myself and I didn’t look like myself either. Something else that isn’t necessarily a struggle, but I was freshly married, just had a baby, also was trying to become a firefighter! not quite sure why I was up to so much, but I fell in love with creating new delectables. I took time out to make sure I put time and energy into myself and did things I enjoyed. Well baking and dipping strawberries became most pleasurable to me. Since I’ve started I’ve lost over 100lbs. And I’m not done yet!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am currently working as a nursing assistant and training for Surgery Assistant at Saint Lukes Hospital
one day if all is align I would love to open a bakery booknook!
My most requested desserts are the banana pudding series. Made up of cookies, cupcakes, cheesecake and even brownies!
I specialize in chocolate covered treats such as strawberries, bananas, pretzels, and then cupcakes of course.
I think the thing that sets me apart are my customizations, explorative flavors, quality, consistency and of course creativity!
I love when my clients send me new things to try, most of my inspiration comes for them. I try to make each product and experience

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I am a bookworm. James Patterson, Kennedy Ryan and Colleen Hoover are some favorites.
