Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Roberts.
Hi Jordan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In high school, I started to get into all things beauty. Deep down I wanted to go to cosmetology school right when I graduated but I knew my whole family wanted me to go to college. I spend 3 and a half years studying everything from criminal justice to biology. I never was happy and couldn’t find my passion.
Covid hit and it took a toll on my mental health and I decided I needed a change. At that time I got an opportunity to manage a doggy daycare and did that for a few months. It was not working out how I wanted it to and I thought I already dropped out of college so I might as well pursue my dream in cosmetology.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it hasn’t been, there have been people who want me to fail and have tried to bring me down but that hasn’t stopped me because I know this is what I was meant to do with my life.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a hairstylist that specializes in blonding, color, and hand-tied extensions. I am proudest of how far I have come from when I first started out.
Things are coming more naturally to me and I can see that I am making a difference in my client’s life by giving them confidence. What sets me apart from others is how I care for the integrity of my client’s hair while keeping their end goal in mind.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love about my city is the opportunity it has to grow. I was born and raised in Overland Park and I have seen it change over time it is always continuing to develop which means more learning and career opportunities.
Honestly can’t find something I don’t like about our city besides that it is landlocked and not by the ocean.
