Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremiah Lewis.
Hi Jeremiah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I originally started getting invested into music because of my dad. I have memories of him playing melodies on the piano and recording tracks into the Fl Studio and even recording songs with me. Since then I’ve made it my own and decided to finish the mission he started. I’m still a relatively small artist but I’ve made major steps towards finding my unique sound coupled with my testimony of how God has worked and been working in my life.
Ive experienced divorced parents, blended families, homelessness, living instabilities, loss of friends, broken hearts, drunkenness, and the biggest of all, the passing of my dad and grandad in my adolescence. All these things are real world struggles that people go through; and my main mission is to tell those people to keep on going and break the cycle. I love my family, but the hurts I’ve experienced are things I won’t allow my offspring to experience. Through prayer, supplication, and Gods grace, I will become the man that helps others see a brighter future.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No it has not, but I am grateful for the chastening that has come along with it. The biggest thing I’ve struggled with is seeing myself as the “successful self”. Sometimes people wont receive what you are offering, and that’s ok; but I didn’t know that for a while so I chose to reject the dream. But God said he works all things for the good of those that love him, so I chose to trust his direction and keep creating
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a rap artist that talks about the struggles that come with everyday life. I know that there are others that have come from that broken home I spoke of and I want them to know that I understanding the feeling that comes with that. For many, thats the key thats missing for their healing. I make music on FL Studios and I’ve come to learn a lot about music production and recording. I’ve produced beats for years and more recently have started to record myself. I specialize in new age trap and cloud rap, also afro and latin style beats to engage a broader audience. I’m most proud of my originality. Since I have experience in production, I can create my own beat then make a track to it. What sets me apart is honesty. When it comes to the world of social media, it can be easy to get caught up in what “they” have, I want people to remember of what they’ve been given and If you want it, go and plant those seeds
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I believe the music industry will always be the same generally. some artists come and go, and others make staples in time and I’d like to be one of those.
