Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaiah Radke.
Hi Isaiah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
We’re 3 homeschooled brothers from St. Joseph, Missouri that grew on our dads record collection. We played our first show in 2011 opening for Fishbone. We recorded our first E.P. in 2013 and toured all over the U.S., Europe and the U.K. And we’ve been going non-stop ever since then.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We’ve had a lot of ups and downs when it comes to labels. But, each obstacle has come with it’s own benefits. We wouldn’t be where we are now if we hadn’t been signed to those previous labels. And it goes without saying that touring is a huge grind. You really have to learn how to get comfortable in some crazy places, and that was pretty hard at first.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Radkey is a rock band. We’re known having a lot of fun on stage and writing heavy rock songs. Our proudest m0ment has to be when we toured with Foo Fighters and were featured in Dave Grohls documentary What Drives Us. When we started the band one of our goals was to play with Foo Fighters and become a real rock band. It was a surreal experience getting to share the stage with them.
What matters most to you? Why?
Writing cool rock music and playing a great live show. It’s important to us because we’re huge rock music fans, and we always want to do justice to the genre.
