Today we’d like to introduce you to Who Dunnit Sisters. Their team share their story with us below:
Hether: Who Dunnit Sisters is a True Crime Channel on Youtube and we cover Kansas City area cases. I’ve been a volunteer with The Doe Network (an organization that matches missing persons with unidentified bodies) for 12 years. My experience with missing and unidentified person cases and friendships with the families of the missing inspired me to want to bring more awareness to their stories. Thankfully my sister was eager to do this with me.
Haley: While Hether focuses on missing person’s cases on our podcast, my episodes are on unsolved Kansas City area murders. A friend of my stepson (who lived with us briefly while attending high school) was murdered in 2016. After his death, I founded “We Are His Voice” (now called “We Are Their Voice”), a call-to-action community group pursuing justice for Kansas City’s crime victims.
My sister and I decided to start a Kansas City True Crime podcast several months ago. We alternate between missing person cases and unsolved homicides and help bring awareness to their cases.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Haley: Sometimes family members are reluctant to talk with us because of retaliation from the potential suspect.
Hether: And sometimes our motivation for why we want to help strangers out is called into question.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Haley: After we interview a family and add it to our YouTube Channel and podcast, we continue to share their story on social media, hoping to bring as much awareness to their case as possible.
Hether: It’s important to us that the family’s of missing persons and murder victims know that we don’t just interview them and then move on to the next case. Their stories become part of us. Their fight for justice becomes our fight, too.
