Rising Stars: Meet Ellie Loewen of Kansas City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ellie Loewen.

Hi Ellie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my career after graduating from Paul Mitchell The School Overland Park in 2021. From there, I began working at my first salon in Kansas City’s River Market, where I had the opportunity to assist under an incredible mentor who helped build the foundation of my career. Since then, I’ve had a few different chapters in my career. Not every one of them was easy, but every experience taught me something I carry with me today. Today, I’m grateful to call Vibe KC home, where I’ve continued to grow both personally and professionally while building a clientele that trusts me.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I don’t think anyone becomes a hairstylist because they expect it to be easy. I’ve had slow weeks where I wondered how I was going to fill my books. I’ve had to completely start over more than once, and I’ve had moments where I didn’t believe in myself. Those experiences weren’t fun, but they taught me resilience and reminded me how badly I wanted this career. If you’re willing to keep showing up, even when it’s hard, the tough seasons don’t define you. They shape you.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I mainly focus on lived-in blonding and dimensional, natural-looking color, with a splash of creative color mixed in. While I love creating beautiful hair, what I’m most proud of is helping my clients understand how to care for and style it long after they leave my chair.

I want every client to leave feeling confident, whether it’s someone who’s spent years struggling with their hair or someone learning to style it for the first time. Beautiful hair is important, but giving my clients the confidence and knowledge to maintain it is what truly sets me apart.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I want people know that finding the right hairstylist isn’t just about who’s posting the prettiest pictures. It’s about finding someone who listens, educates, and genuinely wants you to feel your best. My chair will always be a place where questions are encouraged, confidence is built, and everyone is welcome!
