Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Serago.
Hi Elizabeth, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My older sister, Elaina, inspired me to start playing soccer. She began when I was about four, and by the time I turned five, I was hooked. Since then, soccer has been a driving force in everything I do.
My journey with the Astras began on a sunny soccer field in Kansas City, after a coed game. I found myself reflecting on the match and imagining competing against other women who share the same spirit. In that moment, the path to the Astras became crystal clear. Since then, I’ve poured everything into making this team come to life.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being a 26 year old with a background in psychology, running a business seemed foreign to me. I have luckily been able to find amazing mentors who’ve helped me grow through this process.
While the path to this point has been anything but smooth, I have learned a lot about business and connecting with the right people. No matter what challenges we face moving forward, I am confident that the network I’ve built around the Astras will succeed.
We have recently been relocated and rebranded about a month ago. While this transition came as a surprise to us, we have adjusted well will succeed regardless.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I wear a lot of different hats for the jobs that I currently have. During the day I work at a consulting firm that helps develop sporting facilities. I also coach multiple youth soccer teams for a local youth club- Sporting Blue Valley. On top of that, I am running the Astras organization while competing as a professional athlete in the MASLW.
