Today we’d like to introduce you to Easton Koch.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
DIVINE LAYERS launched in the Fall of 2025, however the project really began over a decade ago. My best friend, Dominic Fabiano, and I began re-selling street wear apparel and other high end clothing in high-school, both to our friends, and online through applications like eBay and Grailed.
We’ve continued to this day. Dom helps with sourcing and finding new products while I focus on selling them. We officially launched DIVINE LAYERS SPACE in the fall of 2025 as a way to showroom our collection and provide a physical shopping experience like-minded people in Kansas City.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We’re still in the beginning stages of growing this thing. A lot of the growing pains that come from scaling haven’t really hit us just yet. But providing Kansas City with premium priced alternatives has never been an easy venture. It’s sort of an “If You Know You Know” type of situation and it’s been cool to see some of the best dressed people in the city connect through our physical space.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in Cut & Sew Denim Production. I’ve been growing and scaling my denim brand, BONICEL Denim, since 2022. Selling it primarily through Guevel in Kansas City, which is also where I am employed. Guevel specialized in high-end Japanese Denim products.
I’m extremely proud of BONICEL and how far it has come. I began making one pair of jeans at a time, but am now working on small scale production with a factory in Los Angeles. My long term vision is build my own in-house sewing factory and revitalize the denim production infrastructure in Kansas City.
DIVINE LAYERS is my outlet for selling and curating high-end goods outside of just my brand. It’s also quite fun working with one of my best friends,
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
You have to actually START !!!
I thought about both BONICEL and DIVINE LAYERS for years before actually starting them and taking them seriously. Start the brand, file the LLC, document the process, and upload as much content to social media as possible.
I know it sounds easy but treating your side project like a real business is super important.
As for actually designing clothes, I would argue you have to know how to cut & sew the thing you want to make. A chef knows exactly how to execute the item on the menu, the same way a designer should know how to execute the product they’re creating. Each individual sewing project will make you a better designer over time.
