Today we’d like to introduce you to Claude Harris.
Hi Claude, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Claude Harris III and I grew up making art and drawing for most of my life in Kansas City, Missouri . It’s been a passion of mine to draw and express myself. I started professionally when I was 23 years old but I’ve been trying to sale my art since I was in middle school. I’ve branched out into other avenues of making money and hope to grow my art business in the future even more.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The obstacles I’ve faced have been the people trying to devalue my work to get something for nothing. Not paying. There have slowed my business down but I still keep going. I will start to travel and showcase my work and hit people who would have serious inquiries about what I do. I will collab and partner with artist friends to further my brand.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a painter in Kansas City Missouri. I specialize in using acrylic paint and digital art to create realistic paintings These mediums used express a story and at times social political issues and state of culture. I use watercolor, charcoal, color pencils, etching and digital art as mediums as well. My vision of creating a story and using symbolism is well known. I utilize my background in comic book making to create perspective and depth in my paintings.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
My favorite books are comics, things fall apart, animal farm and Donald goins books. I watch a lot of movies and study camera angles, cinematography, wardrobe, and lighting on YouTube to help my art. I watch videos on the masters of painting and sculpture on YouTube and instagram. I look at videos and follow current artist as well to learn their creative process.
