Rising Stars: Meet Cassidy Drace

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassidy Drace.

Hi Cassidy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am originally from Wichita KS and started my journey back in 2014 by going to esthetics school at Eric Fisher Academy. That is where I first found out about permanent makeup and became interested in that! Fast forward a few years to 2019 and I had heard that Helm Salon here in Kansas City was holding a microblading class for Beauty Angels Academy and I joined immediately! It was such an amazing experience and I couldn’t wait to begin my permanent makeup journey after so many years of being interested in it!

Around that same time, my husband and I relocated to Mobile AL which is where I got my first job in microblading at a medspa. Then, covid happened. Like so many others, I had to press pause on my career while the world tried to navigate how to safely get through this. Unfortunately, this took a big toll me hitting my client goals. While on the flip side, it gave me a lot of time to practice my craft at home on practice skin and really perfect my technique.

Once the world finally started to get back to somewhat normal I started taking on a limited amount of clients. In early 2021, my husband and I decided to pack up and move…again! We have always loved KC and decided that now is the time to make it happen. Once here, I began working at Helm Salon (where I originally took my microblade class) and I have been loving every second of it! I am the only microblader there and am currently trying to really get my name out there since I am new to the city! I have loved every one of my clients and am so grateful to be surrounded by an amazing work team that lifts and supports eachother. I really can not wait to see what my future brings in this amazing city!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Besides the hiccup that covid brought, it really has been a smooth road for me. I believe since I love microblading so much, everything that has come my way, good or bad, has been a learning experience that I am more than happy to learn from. I’ve made this career path my number 1 priority and take on every challenge with excitement. Luckily, I have never had an unhappy customer so that makes things quite easy. With microblading, you can always add more hairs, more color, more length, so any problem that has come up has been an easy fix and gives my customers solutions to anything they may not be 100% satisfied with.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in microblading and I strive to make eyebrows look completely natural so one would never know you’ve had work done on your brows. I also provide microblading + shading to create more of a makeup look, which those are usually my personal favorite type of brows. I am so proud of myself for getting to the place I am even though I had to take a long break due to covid. And I am so excited to finally be in my dream job, in my dream city.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Client expectations is the number 1 most important characteristic to make me successful. A lot of people look at pictures online and think ” I want exactly that” without knowing about how people have different skin types, hair density, lifestyles, etc. I provide free consultations and always go over expectations with my clients before I even touch a hair on their head. I go over brow shapes and color step by step with them and explain the lifestyle changes that have to happen in order to have perfect healing. Although I do all of the technical work at their appointment, their at home care plays a huge part in how their brows will heal. We’re in this together 50/50.
