Rising Stars: Meet Brook and Bailee Shaffer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brook and Bailee Shaffer.

Hi Brook and Bailee, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
We are twin sisters, Brook and Bailee. We have always wanted to own our own business and become entrepreneurs together, just never knew what that would look like. One day through the challenges COVID19 brought, it gave us the time we needed to start our small business. One day we just randomly said we should start our own business. We both looked at each other and knew we were not kidding. That’s the day we began planning. We decided that through our love and passion for fashion, we would open an online boutique. Our goal is to inspire those around us with outfits that make them feel comfortable in their own skin on the inside and out. We want people to be themself, be confident and be gorgeous. We love how we are able to share our story through this endeavor that we took about seven months ago and can’t wait for you to see what’s coming in the future! Brook + Bailee

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
While starting our online boutique, there were some obstacles and challenges we ran into. Of course, we knew this was not going to be an easy thing to do, as we did lots and lots of research. One of the main obstacles we have struggled with is marketing and getting our desired target market to our site. We thought this was going to be easier than it has been. Having a social media presence is key and trying to research all the tips and tricks behind hashtags, locations, and tagging is all so new to us. We have also run into challenges with shipping delays for our products due to COVID19. Creating an appealing website and navigating our platform has also been an ongoing obstacle as we do not have experience with designing and the format. Since this is new to us, we have had to learn along the way. With that being said, trial and error have occurred. That has been the biggest challenge we have faced. We are both very driven and dedicated and do not give up easily. Through the constant support from those around us, we are able to get through these obstacles and continue moving forward.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Brook: I am in nursing school working on getting my BSN. I am not set on what specialty I want to go into, but I am interested in forensic nursing, pediatrics or family practice. I then plan on obtaining my MSN or DNP.

Bailee: I am in business school and working on my bachelor’s degree in finance with a minor in healthcare management. I am interested in becoming a financial advisor but also exploring other careers in the financial field.

We are proud of how far we have come in our careers and taking on this challenge of entrepreneurship and going after our dreams.
