Today we’d like to introduce you to Armando Vasquez.
Hi Armando, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Anchor Island Coffee opened in March 4th of 2020. Starting with just coffee & teas. First tropical coffee shop in KC, focusing on bright colors to make it feel like you’re at the beach. Pandemic made so hard to continue but we kept going. Later on adding food items to accommodate the customers need. We now have delicious breakfast burritos made from scratch, French toast, bagels, along with some Latin inspired dishes.
We now have two floors & just celebrated our 5 year anniversary. Our first floor is just typical coffee shop vibe. While the second floor is dedicated for those looking for a quiet space to get some work done, we keep it quiet so you can concentrate on whatever you’re working on.
We have some plans on expanding whether is a second location or grow our current location. While that happens we will keep serving our community the best we can.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A lot of breaks in, 4 times to be specific.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’ve worked in the restaurant industry since 2012. I love being around people & helping them the best I can when I’m at work.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Be resilient & don’t be afraid to work hard.
