Rising Stars: Meet Amber Webb

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Webb.

Hi Amber, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
After working in a career where I could not live my most authentic self, I knew it was time to follow my passion. Many small businesses found that thriving meant struggling with using social media effectively. As a Millennial who grew up with social media, I loved the opportunity to help them develop strategies to use it effectively.

Because I am passionate about small to medium-sized businesses and local nonprofits thriving. It was natural to put my energy into serving local Kansas City nonprofit organizations with social media postings, graphics, branding, and overall marketing strategies. Based on our work together, organization leaders referred me to other businesses before I was even open to expanding my business. My experience there gave me confirmation and confidence that I made the healthy choice to change careers.

Facebook Business pages, Instagram were becoming the “hot new thing” to reach audiences. Social media technology was multiplying so rapidly that small businesses could not keep up with the emerging changes in platforms, algorithms, and marketing strategies. May 2019 seemed to be the right time to launch my business, Omnipresent Marketing.

Small businesses lacked the staff, experience, and financial resources to focus on a social media marketing plan. At the same time, they realized their referrals, leads, and sales were steadily declining. It was an opportunity to educate small businesses on developing social media strategies as their “new normal” future. The frustration of business owners was that the fees larger marketing agencies charged for creating social media strategies were unaffordable and often involved systems that would be too difficult for them to maintain.

In creating Omnipresent Marketing, the goal was educating business owners and coaching them to implement social media and marketing strategies that fees they could afford and strategies they could maintain. Omnipresent Marketing has become a “go-to” place for education and answers to implementing social media strategies. My clients want to focus on managing their business rather than become social media strategists. They want to cut through the overwhelming social media information and find a practical solution to marketing their company. In addition, we build out social media marketing plans and execute them for business owners to free them to manage their operations.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Of course, there is a deeper part of the story. Like any small business, my startup of Omnipresent Marketing was not an easy path; I faced numerous challenges. I experienced the up and down swings of emotions, feelings, and confidence like a wild roller coaster ride.

Entrepreneurship is not easy. Like others, some of my struggles were with the beliefs I unconsciously internalized from my life experience. They limited my views about my choices for much of my life, and my inner critics created doubt that undermined my self-confidence. While some days are still very challenging, I now have more tools and resources to bring me back to the truth of who I am. Without continual self-awareness, feedback from others, and internal growth, my ability to move forward with my business would seem impossible.

One of the most significant shifts is knowing my career success does not define my worth as a human being. Once I was not attached to the outcome and success of my business, it began to flow. Another awareness that I hold tightly is that anything we feel proud about is successful. I feel proud of helping companies, especially this last year during the pandemic. The deep feeling of pride is the feeling of success.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am detailed yet visionary. Therefore, I tend to focus on the specifics in the present moment to reach goals later on. One of my favorite projects is strategically breaking goals into practical steps to get a long-term goal closer. I want to provide services that allow clients to shine uniquely! Hence, knowing and understanding our clients as friends is a top priority.

I believe this sets me apart from other agencies. We design, write and create from the personalities and perspectives of our clients’ voices, not ours. It is essential to be different and unique in the marketing world, and by focusing on relationships versus dollar signs, our intentions are distinctive. I believe that integrity, relationships, and passion are the way home!

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Starting Omnipresent Marketing was one of the most significant risks that I have ever taken in life. My most significant life risk was my move to Kansas City from Appalachia/South Eastern Kentucky at age 19.

Starting Omnipresent Marketing meant leaving a comfortable desk job with benefits and health insurance.

I did not know what the future held for me, yet I knew that I could accomplish what I was setting out to do with my vision and willpower.

In my experience, the thing we fear the most is usually the treasure we seek the most. This awareness has been beneficial for me on my journey. Sometimes tremendous leaps of courage lead us down the most adventurous paths(BTW, Adventure only happens when we stop planning).
