Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Hall.
Amanda, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Nature has always been fascinating to me, I love to spend my time in the woods foraging for mushrooms, and looking at all the little details of the plants. My jewelry journey began a few years ago while trying to find ways to preserve nature and mushrooms in a way I could wear them. I started with just making jewelry for myself, and gifts for friends before I decided to sell my pieces online. After a few years, I have been able to take my little side hobby and make it my full-time job.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Being a self-taught artist has had its struggles. There has been a lot of trial and error. I have made a ton of mistakes! Learning how to preserve each mushroom and plant and how they all react to different methods has been a challenge.
Gathering my mushrooms also comes with the challenge of finding them. Not every trip into the woods is a successful trip. Instead of bringing home mushrooms, sometimes I only bring back lots of big bites.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in resin and copper jewelry. Combing both of these two mediums a majority of the time. I am mostly known for my mushroom crystals, which I am the proudest of. Each of my mushroom crystals is unique and one of a kind! The crystals create a beautiful enclosure for the tiny mushroom worlds that are inside of them.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Social media is where I am at! I mainly post on my Instagram, and that is where I have met and worked with so many amazing artists!
I also do various pop-ups around Kansas City, and I post about them on my Instagram and Facebook pages.
