Rising Stars: Meet Alexi Boller

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexi Boller.

Hi Alexi, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
All throughout high school, I was determined to become an EMT; I had been working as a CNA for three years, was looking into EMT programs and what I had to do to pursue that; when in October 2017, my first semester of my senior year of high school, I broke my back. I then went through months of rehab and pain management, unfortunately nothing helped so we resorted to back surgery in March of 2018. I, unfortunately, had to graduate high school a semester early and at that time it looked like I wouldn’t be able to participate in typical high school experiences like homecoming, prom, or walking across the stage at graduation. After a successful back surgery, an amazing rehab team and a lot of hard work I was able to attend prom and walk the stage at graduation, in heels, might I add!! I had to change all my plans because an EMT is a very physically demanding career and thinking long term, I didn’t want to reinjure my back! I was looking into traveling volunteer programs, universities to attend, jobs to jump into, and trade schools.

In February of 2020 is when I decided to attend cosmetology school. In our first week of school, our leaders encourage us to start social media pages for our work throughout school. Naturally, I named mine “Boller Beauty” not knowing what I was creating at the time. When I originally started cosmetology school, I wanted to specialize in natural hair and braiding! Four weeks into school, quarantine began and I instantly went from a 9-5 School schedule with a 45-minute commute there and home everyday to waking up at 8:55 to be online for school at 9! It was a huge change! Over quarantine, I realized that I love to style hair but wasn’t very interested in cutting or coloring the hair! A lot of people don’t realize that a cosmetology license covers more than just hair, it covers other things like waxing, facials, eyebrows and my personal favorite eyelash extensions. I decided in July of 2020 to get Eyelash Extension certified and start to specialize in natural eyelashes extensions. I didn’t take it as seriously as I should have. I was working as a CNA and traveling with an agency so I didn’t prioritize my time as I should have to really devote the time it deserved. During that time, luckily, school began attending in person again!!

In September 2020, I found out I was pregnant with my baby boy. As most people do, I wanted the absolute most for my growing family so I decided I wanted to be a stay at home mom and spend as much time as possible with my family while maintaining a steady income! I had to reevaluate my day to day schedule! In November 2020, I began to start taking lashing seriously, lashing everyday after school and on the weekends while working small part-time jobs to keep money flowing. By January 2021, I had built up my clientele enough to where I was/am self-employed; at this time I was 20 years old and four months pregnant. So all by 21 years old, I had undergone a serious back injury and recovery, a career change, became a mommy and became founder & CEO of my own company.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I really believe that anything that is worth it won’t be easy. One of the biggest struggles has been support. I think the problem was, in the beginning I was surrounded by people that liked to have power over who they were around and if there wasn’t anything “in it for them” they didn’t wanna support it. It took losing those people and gaining the people I’m around now to see the true potential and start to see the positive in the situation instead of dread on the negative.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Boller Beauty LLC offers eyelash extensions, brow tinting, and lash lifting and tinting for affordable prices! I did start my business during 2kcorona so I started my business with the notion of making it affordable for all. I think it’s also important to point out that beauty is my business and my passion. I specialize in what I call “lived in” semi-permanent makeup. I essentially want to enhance your natural features enough to where you feel comfortable and confident without having to do anything extra in the morning. I would say I specialize in eyelashes extensions, classic eyelash extensions to be specific. But I do classic, hybrid, volume, and specialty lashes!! What sets me apart from everybody else is my transparency and my customer service.

I am incredibly transparent with all my clients, some people may not be the best candidate for the service they are requesting, I will always tell you if I think there might be complications or if there is a better option but I always leave it up to you to make the ultimate decision of what you’re wanting to do! My customer service is top tier because not only am I The Boller Beauty CEO but I am also customer service rep, service coordinator, business designer, content creator and all of the above; so I have a lot of pride in every detail of my business. I’m most proud of all my progress. From the beginning of Boller Beauty to now, I have accomplished more than I thought I was ever capable of and I have so much more to accomplish that all I can do is happily anticipate the future.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Risk taking in business is something I haven’t had much experience with yet. I do think I will in the future though. Taking risks in life is the only way to grow and get out of your comfort zone. I am a very ambitious person and am not afraid of taking risks depending on what the consequences are. I know my limits and am willing to push them but also am conscious enough to think about the consequences and weigh the odds.
