Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Greeno.
Hi Adam, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Backroad Barbells didn’t start in a big gym – it started with a decision. After spending five years working as a Registered Dietitian in the clinical field, I realized I wanted more. I wanted to be hands-on, in the community, making a different kind of impact. That led me to become a Firefighter/EMT with Lee’s Summit Fire Department – Serving others when it matters most. But one thing never changed: my passion for fitness and nutrition. Living out on a backroad, training in an old shed, I started building something of my own. No fancy equipment. No shortcuts. Just hard work, consistency, and a commitment to getting better every day. That’s where Backroad Barbells was born – training others the same way I trained myself. Backroad Barbells is about helping men rebuild strength, fitness, and health with practical training and real nutrition. No fluff. No extremes. Just programs and coaching designed to fit busy lives – delivering durable gains and building a more confident version of you. Built on grit. Backed by experience. Forged on the backroad.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Building Backroad Barbells came with its share of challenges – and one of the biggest has been marketing in a world dominated by the internet. There’s a lot of noise out there. Everyone’s selling quick fixes, flashy transformations, and overnight success. That’s not what I’m about. One of the toughest parts has been helping people understand the real value of online coaching. A lot of guys still think in-person training is the only way to get results. But the truth is, online coaching – when it’s done right – can be even more effective. It’s not about just showing up for a session. it’s about having a structured plan built for your life, accountability outside the gym, and guidance on both training and nutrition every single day – not just for an hour. There were times it felt slow. Times where it felt like the message wasn’t getting through. But staying consistent, staying real, and continuing to show the process – that’s what builds trust. Backroad Barbells was never built to be flashy. It was built to work. And the men who buy in? They see exactly why.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At my core, I serve people – just in different ways. I’m currently a full-time firefighter/EMT with Lee’s Summit Fire Department, where I’ve been for the past four years. I’ve was honored to be name Firefighter of the year for 2026 – something I take a lot of pride in because it reflects the work, discipline, and commitment to serving my community. Before that, I spent 5 years in the clinical setting as a registered Licensed Dietitian, Working in hospitals around the Kansas City Metro. Alongside that, I’ve also been a certified personal trainer – always staying rooted in fitness and nutrition. That combination is really what sets me apart. I don’t just understand training. I don’t just understand nutrition. I’ve lived both – in high-performance, high-stress environments where your healthy actually matters. Through Backroad Barbells, I specialize in helping men rebuild strength, improve their health, and simplify their approach to fitness and nutrition. What I’m most proud of isn’t just titles or recognition – it’s the It’s the impact. It’s the guys who get stronger, move better, gain confidence, and take control of their health again – while balancing careers, families, and everything else life throws at them.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
If there’s one more thing I’d want people to understand, it’s this – none of this has been done alone. My wife and two sons are the foundation behind everything I do. Their support, patience, and belief in me through long shifts, early mornings, and late nights building Backroad Barbells – that’s what makes this possible. They’re the reason I push to be better, not just in business or fitness, but as a husband and father. And just as important is my faith. My Christian faith keeps me grounded. It gives me purpose beyond just results, titles, or recognition. It’s what guides how I show up- to serve, to lead, and to stay disciplined in the work, even when no one’s watching. at the end of the day, strength isn’t just built in the gym. It’s built at home. It’s built in your values. And it’s built in what you stand on when things get hard.
