Today we’d like to introduce you to Zane Wagner.
Hi Zane, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I started photography at a young age, starting with these Kodak disposable cameras my parents would buy to keep me occupied. Once I got to high school and college, I started taking serious classes in film and design. Learning film photography before digital helped me learn the patience necessary for setting up equipment and pacing myself with my work. I switched to solely digital in 2013 and started my business in 2021.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a smooth road?
It hasn’t always been smooth, and creative blocks are common for me. I try to keep my challenges small in my brain, deconstructing them and breaking them down into steps to overcome. I find it easier when I can disassemble the metaphorical brick wall in front of me, piece by piece, into a flight of stairs to the next goal.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in photography of various subjects, from plants to architecture and events. I don’t think I have anything that necessarily sets me apart from the others, but I’m pretty proud of my editing skills! I’m most proud of my knowledge of my city. I love living here, and I love being to show it off through my art.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you, and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The COVID-19 crisis taught me a lot about what I wanted to do with my work and what I wanted to focus on doing long-term with it. I’ve found a lot of community through art, and I’m so glad for all the connections I’ve made in such a short time of starting up.
