Today we’d like to introduce you to Zach Nuss.
Hi Zach, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am foremost an educator. I use my skills in storytelling and coaching to cultivate an environment conducive to growth and change for my clients, customers, and readers.
In 2019, I started Nuss Fitness LLC in a tiny corner of a 10×10 spare bedroom, armed only with an iPad, a Zoom account, and a passion for providing wellness to anyone, anywhere. I grew that small online business, debt-free, into a small garage studio.
Flash forward seven years, and what began as a fully virtual training model has evolved into a dynamic, client-centered coaching practice.
Nuss Fitness LLC caters to busy people who seek to take back ownership of their health. With a special interest in helping our distinguished individuals retain their autonomy and freedom through renewed strength and mobility.
Outside of my wellness career, I’m a published author of two books, “Always be Prepared” and “Where Sleepwalkers Go,” a writer for two allied health magazines, and the owner of Strong Will Press LLC.
My work explores the intersections of personal growth, resilience, and the stories that shape our lives. With a background in health and wellness education, I’ve spent more than a decade teaching, mentoring, and developing programs designed to help people build strength, self-awareness, and purpose.
My writing draws heavily from personal experience, blending storytelling, reflection, and poetic insight to examine themes of loss, identity, and awakening.
My first book, Always Be Prepared, introduced his philosophy of readiness and self-efficacy.
In my debut memoir, Where Sleepwalkers Go: Growing Up in the Shadow of Loss, I invite readers into the formative moments of my childhood and young adulthood, tracing the journey from grief and neglect toward meaning, hope, and self-determination.
Through writing and teaching, I seek to help others step out of the patterns that keep them “sleepwalking” through life and into a future shaped by intention and purpose.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not! Learning how to build a business on the side of a full-time job, then having that business as a full-time income, came with its unique challenges that I’m sure every entrepreneur has felt or gone through in their own way.
The long nights and weekends.
Client no-shows.
Hours of studying for certifications and degrees
. Thousands of calls, emails, and texts for prospecting
Then comes the work of standing apart from every other professional in the field.
Then asking yourself, am I enough…? Do I have what it takes..?
Finally, deciding to pick yourself up after each failed sales call, and learn from the mistakes and celebrate the wins no matter how big or small.
I would say the biggest struggle for me was feeling alone in my efforts. Yes, you have your family, but at the end of the day, it’s all up to you to win, and someday, for every business owner, that pressure can be tremendous. But in the end, its all worth it.
I like to tell my team and colleagues, “If it’s still bad, then it’s not over. It will be okay in the end.”
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?

I combine over a decade of hands-on experience in the wellness industry with practical expertise and a genuine passion for lifelong learning. I have worked with big box gyms, community centers, parks and recreation, and non-profits like the YMCA.
Hold more than 13 industry-recognized certifications from NASM, ISSA, & ACE, and two formal degrees in the field: an Associate of Science in Fitness and Nutrition from WellSpring School of Allied Health and a Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellness from Purdue University.
ISSA – Certified Running Coach
NASM – Certified Personal Trainer, CEC, PES, CNC, CSNC, YES, SFC, WLS, BCS, VCS, SMI, HGD
I’m also an American Red Cross Instructor and Instructor Trainer offering First Aid, CPR, AED, and Basic Life Support courses—plus renewals. I also train and certify new Red Cross Instructors so your organization can develop in-house expertise. Safe, practical, and professionally delivered.
In the fitness world, I have experience in just about every avenue: personal training, nutritional and behavioral coaching, weight loss, group exercise, and virtual coaching, just to name a few.
Health is more than numbers on a scale or data on a chart. True wellness takes into account the whole picture of who you are. To steward that well, you need not only expertise, but empathy and trust equity.
I’m here to provide that high-quality service to you.
Complementing my industry work, I also served as an exercise science and nutrition lecturer and Program Director at WellSpring School of Allied Health, where I directed associate-level programs that shape the future of wellness in the Kansas City area.

I am also the owner and writer for Strong Will Press LLC
https://sites.google.com/view/zachtnuss/about-the-author
Strong Will Press is an independent imprint committed to producing books and literature that inspire growth, self-discovery, and positive change. I focus on transformational narratives, education, and personal development. This press is a platform to empower readers to move from survival to purpose.
My first book, Always Be Prepared, introduced my philosophy of readiness and self-efficacy.
In my debut memoir, Where Sleepwalkers Go: Growing Up in the Shadow of Loss, I invite readers into the formative moments of my childhood and young adulthood, tracing the journey from grief and neglect toward meaning, hope, and self-determination.
I was also the lead writer for the WellSpring Times, an Allied Health Educational Magazine with 10 articles published between 2025 and 2026.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was heavily involved in Scouting, earning my Eagle award in 2009, while also competing in sports like wrestling, soccer, track, and even show choir.
Personality-wise, I’d like to say I was friendly enough, but you’d have to ask my friends, I suppose. I had a personal interest in reading books and writing stories very early on. Writing my first short story when I was 14 years old. It wasn’t very good, but it was a start to a lifetime love of writing.
Fitness-wise, I knew that I wanted to work in the fitness industry after taking the Personal Fitness Merit badge in scouting. That course genuinely is why I have my fitness business to this day.
