Meet William Plunkett of Butler, Mo

Today we’d like to introduce you to William Plunkett.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Joey and Trish Plunkett purchased The Alley Pick ‘N’ Pub in January 2020 before the COVID pandemic. They wanted to provide a place for people to come and have a good time with their family and friends. They spent long hours during COVID cleaning and remodeling the bar. They changed the name to The Alley Tavern, hoping to reflect an old world tavern feel. They have since expanded the business to include an Event Venue, that the community can rent for special occasions. Joey and Trish have put a lot of hard work into providing a fun, safe, space for people to come and have a drink, shoot a game of pool, play a game of Cornhole, or do some Kareokee with your friends.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Having purchased right before the COVID pandemic, it has been an experience. Closing during the pandemic allowed time to focus on the remodel of the bar, but of course COVID was hard on everyone. The bar didn’t have the best reputation, and Joey worked really hard on building that back up.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Joey and Trish have both worked for the local Sheriffs Department for several years. They both enjoy being in the community and helping where they can. Joey in his free time is always working on little projects to better the establishment. Joey also plays drums in a Band called Wasteland, who perform in many other small bars and venues in Missouri.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
All of our patrons, and our community who have supported us the past 5 years and continue to support us. Our employees we couldn’t do this without them.
