Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Ward.

Hi Whitney, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am a Hairstylist & Certified Hair Loss Specialist who specializes in wigs, weaves and extensions. My niche is trendy, Non-Surgical Hair Replacement Services.

I started servicing clients about 18 years ago as a freshman in high school and I did that part-time until 2018 when I eventually quit my corporate job to become an entrepreneur.

I got into NSHR services after analyzing that a high percentage of my clientele suffered from some type of hair loss. Rather is was Alopecia Areata or medically induced hair loss from medication or chemotherapy.

I quickly realized that my clients did not want to look like what they were going through. Which is why I decided to focus on being able to provide trendy styles using hair replacement pieces such wigs, closure and frontal hairpieces.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For the most part, yes things have moved smoothly.

My biggest obstacle thus far was having to find a place to move my shop. But things got better when I made the leap of faith during the pandemic to open my storefront salon & hair replacement clinic.

I have four braiders, three hairstylists including myself & a makeup artist as part of the team.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As stated in the beginning, I specialize in NS Hair Replacement Services, i.e. wigs, weaves and extensions for clients who suffer from Alopecia and baldness due to medical conditions and genetics.

I’m known for my flawless hair replacement installs using custom wigs or closure/frontal hairpieces.

What sets me apart from others is that I do what I do for the passion not the fashion, although the finished product is usually trendy and fashionable.

What makes me most proud of my brand is because I built it from the ground up! It was a lot of blood, sweat and tears but it was most definitely a beautiful struggle.

Although my niche is NSHR, I also offer natural hair are services as well as protective styles.

Outside of providing services to clients, I also teach Beginner and Advanced wig-making classes.
