Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracy Pincus.
Hi Tracy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Plattsburg Missouri., graduating from PHS in 1977. I moved back in 2008 to care for my parents in my family home. I was approached by the board of the beautiful Community Courtyard in 2012 to manage the venue and coordinate events. It was a perfect match for me. I love working with brides and others to help them plan their perfect wedding or party. The Courtyard is a not-for profit venue and all monies received go back into maintaining and improving our historic building.
I also have a linen rental business and an Airbnb in the downstairs of my Victorian home. Both fit in perfectly with the Courtyard.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Maintaining a building that was built in the 1890,s always brings challenges. The community is very active in helping us keep the building in perfect condition for our brides and other rentals. Originally the Courtyard was a livery stable, housing mules and horses at the turn of the century. After that is was home to a carriage factory, a cabinet shop, a roller skate factory and many other businesses along the way. Our goal is to have an event space for the community at very reasonable prices, far below market price for such a venue.
As you know, we’re big fans of Community Courtyard. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The Community Courtyard is a not-for-profit venue with seating for up to 350 people. I help all clients with extra services such as linens, decorations, set up and clean up, and basically anything they might need. I have been in the hospitality industry for most of my career. Ive worked with brides for over 40 years making their day as special as possible. I have also had my own catering business, and was a trainer for the Bristol restaurants in Kansas City.
What matters most to you?
I want the Courtyard to be available for everyone in our community. I believe having a space for the community to come together is vital to its residents.
My two grandchildren are my top priority and I spend as much time as I can with them.
