Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Bellamy.
Hi Tiffany, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
At the age of five I discovered my love for art. As I grew, I learned art has no depth. Art is so much more than a hobby; it affected my daily life in positive ways. I used art for therapy, to connect with others, and expressed my feelings through mediums.
After high school, I furthered my fine art education in college. Through this time, I experienced high volumes of trauma, Inevitably causing repressed memories to rise. Life struggles will always result in the most beautiful artistic outcomes. One of the ways I channeled my emotions was by changing my hair.
Coloring my hair helped me feel powerful, like a new me was being born. I later pursued cosmetology school. Many people convinced me of my talent. While I attended beauty school, I worked as a prestige make up artist. While working, I met a woman who educating me on her career as a cosmetic tattoo is. I knew this would be a goal of mine in the future.
I’ll never forget the week of graduation. I felt so nervous, excited, fearful, a sensory overload making me nauseous. But maybe the nerves were stemming from something else. I took an official pregnancy test on my birthday, of which was positive. Happy birthday to me-best gift ever. At the time, I didn’t have much support, or a stable home, or healthy environment to thrive. Many people told me “Your life is over after you have kids.” Rather than outlet negativities thank me I used the negative energy as fuel for the fire inside of me. I knew I would prove them wrong. I would be the best version of myself.
Fast forward two years later, I’m excelling as a beautician. I’m fully supporting my son and I, life was at bay. I removed toxic people from my life. You will never grow if you keep putting yourself in the same situation and expecting a different outcome. Don’t get me wrong, I encountered many obstacles. I soon found out I was pregnant with my second child. Although he was unexpected, I knew I was strong enough to continue my goals for being a single parent.
I started my permanent make up journey halfway through my pregnancy. I am humbled for the experiences I had I met so many wonderful individuals. It was not an easy journey. Taking maternity leave, the pandemic, balancing work, school all willfully supporting my child. But nothing would stop me.
As of 2022 right now work as a cosmetic tattoo artist OG Tattoo in Grain Valley, Missouri. I also work for beauty brands as a master beautician approaching my five year anniversary.
My advice to anyone struggling to find their light or having setbacks is to be your own cheerleader. Be proud of yourself. Reward yourself for small wins in life. The difference between yesterday and today is the way you think and the way you talk to yourself. There are zero excuses as to why you can’t chase the career you want. It’s all about having a focused mind, pacing yourself, and telling yourself “I can do this”.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We all have setbacks. Sometimes it feels like I’m on a ladder, climbing to the top, then life happens and I fall down a few steps. There’s always room to grow.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have been a beautician for five years. I picked up a cosmetic tattoo in 2019!
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I’m all for risk-taking when the appropriate time is right. For example, doing something out of your comfort zone then soon realizing your love for something!
