Meet The Blakk Co

Today we’d like to introduce you to The Blakk Co.

The Blakk Co., a Member’s Only Gentlemen’s Club where we connect outstanding Men of Color was an idea birthed during the time of two major crisis in our country, one being COVID-19 and the other George Floyd.

We were having a conversation about how Men of Color did not have a place of rest in our community in which they could truly feel safe, one that would uplift rather than tear down, one that would empower rather than ostracized. We knew that creating something positive was necessary for our community to continue to move forward.

12 months later, we’re here. We went through planning to producing a concept all the while still picking up the pieces after a pandemic. We are grateful to have had the time to stop, think about how we could help on making the world, our world a better place.

Next month Membership will launch and we are excited to prove concept and see the narrative for Men of Color rise from the ashes into something beautiful.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Covid-19 definitely presented some challenges on when to open, how to open and where to open.

Timing is everything, and we are grateful to have had the time and works with timing instead of against it.

Other challenges were questions such as why open a men’s club instead of one for women? We both have previous experience working with Men in our other lines of work, so it was natural, it was purposeful.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Tamela and I are both business owners in our own lanes.

She is the owner of the Healing Corner KC, a clinical therapy practice just recently shifting from a career employee of over 20 years. Her love to help people heal plays a major part in the mental health component of the club that we offer to members called the Blakk Discussion.

I, on the other hand am the owner of Posh Restoration Facilities where I provide education and products for healthy hair and skin in which I am currently working on a grooming line Grandeur by BLAKK ™ to ensure our Men have healthy solutions for their hair and skin as well.

We both have a knack for business and fully support entrepreneurship as we navigate raising our families and pursuing our passions to help others become better versions of themselves.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Absolutely, we attribute our current success to our families who too believe in the work that we are doing.

Learning to do business with the family vs. against the family has given us the support we need to birth this baby and help others reach their dreams.

We can not forget our team which is composed of Staff at the Club, our Blakk Men that you see in the social space of our pages and websites, camera and video crew and supporters behind the scenes in their time, financial resources and more!
