Today we’d like to introduce you to Tera Mueller.
Hi Tera, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
We began our labradoodle breeding journey in 2005 after consulting with our veterinarian about the temperaments and common health concerns in the doodle breeds. From the start, health and temperament have been our top priorities, which is why we conduct thorough genetic testing on all of our dogs—including OFA evaluations for hips and elbows, as well as cardiac, patella, and comprehensive DNA testing to rule out a wide range of hereditary conditions.
In 2009, we expanded our program to include Australian Labradoodles, drawn to their calm, affectionate nature, high intelligence, and natural aptitude for therapy work. Their easygoing temperament and trainability make them a perfect fit for families and individuals alike, and they’ve completely stolen our hearts and our seat on the couch!
As a family with five children—including one with special needs—we’ve experienced firsthand the comfort and emotional support these dogs provide. Our puppies are socialized daily by both us and our children, exposed to normal household sounds and routines, and receive Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) to help them develop resilience to mild stress in their environment . We’re passionate about raising well-rounded, healthy puppies that are ready to become beloved companions and family members.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Breeding labradoodles is incredibly rewarding, but it doesn’t come without its challenges. The hardest part is the heartbreak of losing puppies, whether they’re too small or face developmental issues, it’s sadly something that is inevitable when dealing with animals. In recent years, the changing economy has made it more difficult for families to commit to bringing home a new puppy, and we’ve had to adjust accordingly while still maintaining the high standards we hold for our program. In today’s digital world, marketing has become an entirely different kind of challenge—navigating constantly evolving social media platforms, keeping up with online inquiries, and managing our presence while still giving hands-on care to our puppies and dogs can feel like a full-time job on its own. Despite these hurdles, our passion for raising Australian labradoodles is still going strong and we’re grateful for the families who continue to trust us on their journey to finding the perfect companion.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At Blessed Day Doodles, we are a small, family-run breeding program specializing in raising healthy, happy, and well-socialized Australian Labradoodles. Our passion is not just about puppies — it’s about creating lasting connections between our dogs and the families who welcome them into their homes.
We’re known for our ethical breeding practices, our deep love and respect for the Australian Labradoodle breed, and our commitment to excellence in every aspect of our program. Each puppy is raised in our home, surrounded by family, exposed to everyday sights and sounds, and given early socialization to ensure a smooth transition into their forever homes.
What truly sets us apart is the level of care and intentionality we put into everything we do — from health testing and temperament testing to ongoing support for our adoptive families years after they’ve adopted their puppy from us. We also do a yearly doodle reunion with our families at a local park.
We are most proud of the community we’ve built — a family of Blessed Day Doodles owners who share our love for these wonderful dogs. Our brand represents integrity, heart, and a belief that every puppy deserves the very best start in life.
We invite you to get to know us and see the Blessed Day difference — where every day with a doodle is a blessed one.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I spent a lot of time on my grandparents farm. Almost all of my childhood memories include the farm in one way or another. We fed the bottle calves, watched the sows whelp piglets, “helped” grandma in the garden, rode the tractor and checked cows with grandpa and snuck through the hay loft looking for the newest litter of kittens. My love for all animals began on their farm.
