Meet Tanner Wilson of EvoHealth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanner Wilson.

Hi Tanner, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My passion for healthcare began long before I entered clinical practice. I grew up in a family that valued nutrition, exercise, restorative sleep, and a proactive approach to health. As a third-generation chiropractor, I saw firsthand the impact that personalized, patient-centered care could have on people’s lives. That passion deepened as a collegiate track athlete, where I became fascinated by the science of human performance and health optimization. I realized that small changes in nutrition, recovery, training, and lifestyle could meaningfully improve both performance and long-term health, ultimately inspiring me to pursue a career focused on helping others do the same.

After earning my doctorate, I completed advanced postgraduate training through the Institute for Functional Medicine, becoming an Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner (IFMCP). That training expanded my clinical perspective, emphasizing systems biology and evidence-informed strategies to help prevent and address chronic disease through targeted interventions.

Early in my career, I worked as a Functional Medicine Practitioner in Chicago, where I became increasingly frustrated with the constraints of corporate healthcare. I wanted the opportunity to spend more time with patients, develop individualized care plans, and focus on prevention instead of reaction, helping people not only overcome chronic health concerns but also optimize their health, performance, and longevity.

In 2022, I returned to my home state of Kansas and founded EvoHealth Functional Medicine. Like many entrepreneurs, I started from the ground up by giving free health presentations at local smoothie shops and community events, sharing practical, science-backed strategies to improve health. Those grassroots conversations helped build trust within the community and ultimately fueled our growth through word-of-mouth referrals.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Building a healthcare practice from the ground up has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, but it certainly hasn’t come without challenges. Entrepreneurship demands resilience, adaptability, and an unwavering commitment to continuous learning. There have been countless 12+ hour days balancing patient care, business operations, and the pursuit of staying at the forefront of the latest scientific research, all while striving to build an exceptional patient experience.

Despite the challenges, I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At EvoHealth, our mission is to redefine what modern healthcare can look like by combining evidence-based functional medicine with preventive, personalized care.

Our clinic offers comprehensive functional medicine, longevity plans, direct primary care, and hormone optimization services, allowing us to care for patients across a wide spectrum of health needs. We specialize in helping individuals with metabolic health, digestive disorders, hormone imbalances, cardiovascular risk reduction, autoimmune conditions, weight management, and performance optimization. We also work with patients who simply want to be proactive about their health, improve their quality of life, and support healthy aging.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
The biggest piece of advice I would give is to invest in yourself. The greatest returns I’ve experienced haven’t come from financial investments, they’ve come from investing in my education, developing new skills, and committing to lifelong learning.

I also believe you shouldn’t chase passion alone. Instead, focus on developing your talents and becoming exceptionally good at something that creates value for others. As your expertise grows and you begin making a meaningful impact, passion often follows naturally.
