Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydney Shurtleff.
Hi Sydney, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started doing hair in 2021, went to a little cosmetology school in Smithville and circled right back to working in the town. I can’t believe it’s been 4 years doing the thing I love to do. It’s been such a pleasure getting to know so many people and building my clientele, I have gained lifetime friends! Hair x Sydney Shurtleff is something I have really put all my effort into, whether it’s just doing my normal routine to making sure all my clients needs are fulfilled and they are happy!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not the smoothest road. As anyone knows, it does take time to build your business. Somedays I thought it wasn’t going to work out, but I was wrong! There’s a lot of time and money that goes into being a hairstylist. But I’ve enjoyed every second of it. I truly cannot imagine doing anything else.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Hair x Sydney Shurtleff is my business name. I am a licensed cosmetologist since 2021. I love doing blonding, lived in color, extensions, dimensional brunettes, haircutting and so much more. I am known for my blonde babes, they are perfect every time! I love furthering my education and learning all the new things that they teach. What’s different about me is I listen to my clients, so many of them have told me that at their previous hairdressers, they don’t get what they want. And no one wants to walk out of a salon and not receive what they’re expecting to. I always communicate what we can get done today, and future appointments, getting to their main goal.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Consistency, kindness, and the quality of your work. Listening to your clients, communicating with them about their hair integrity, making sure they keep up with the maintenance of what they’re having done to their hair.
