Meet Sumya Anani of Learning2Fly

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sumya Anani.

Hi Sumya, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I own Learning2Fly, an aerial fitness, party, and K-12 field trip center on i35 and Lamar. We host CHAKRA CIRCUS® field trips and youth camps and this is where I teach the seven superpowers of health that I’ve been developing for 15+ years. I’ve been in health and fitness for 30 years: massage therapist, yoga teacher, 4x world champion boxer, aerial silks and aerial yoga instructor, Pilates instructor, GYROTONIC® instructor.

Health is our birthright. My boxing career inspired me to take care of my body. I was blessed with the best boxing trainer in the world, Barry Becker, that motivated me to explore my potential. And that exploration continues in every area of my life. And health is foundational for all of us in pursuing our soul’s mission.

My field trip center will be expanding. I have schools from all over the metro coming to learn about these core habits of health. I have a children’s book coming out soon. Life is a blessing. I attract the best mentors and teachers into my life.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Life is ups and downs. I think a common struggle has always been my self-esteem. Why is it so hard for us to believe in ourselves? I’ll speak for me. Why has it been so hard for me to believe in myself? But through boxing, I learned to believe in myself. My trainer helped me incredibly. All my mentors helped me in this way. This is the beauty of relationships that we are all here to help elevate and lift each other. So I think learning to be in relationship with others, to learn to be okay with taking constructive criticism, because that’s how we grow.

Yoga and meditation has kept me grounded. It’s another potent way to shift the mind from dwelling on negatives, doubts, etc. to thinking about possibilities, opportunities, and transformation. I really have changed my mindset in so many ways from the way I was raised.

Norman Vincent Peale called it ‘the power of positive thinking.’ So disciplining my mind to be focused and positive was the biggest struggle. And I think I can say that for most people. I also do health coaching based on the seven chakras. I see it in everyone that comes my way.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Learning2Fly?
I am known for a love for physical fitness and turning that into a mission of caring and kindness. People love the rules I have and tell me all the time that they are paying more attention to their minds when they’re not in the studio.

1. The only sentence in my studio that students can use the word can’t is, “There’s nothing I can’t do.” Whenever a student says it, they have a few moments to change it so something positive. “I’m having difficulty with this move.”

2. Only positive self-talk. When we hear people say, “I’m not strong…My upper body is so weak…I’m not good at this.” Again, they have to change it to something positive. “I’m getting stronger everyday…I love how I’m improving…Every day I’m getting better and better.” This internal dialogue is with us constantly. It is of utmost importance that we learn to create better dialogue inside our heads. So what comes out of our mouth is how we can monitor it. Thoughts are things. And this is the foundation of the law of attraction, the foundation of achieving dreams. We need to be taught this in school.

3. Don’t compare yourself with others. Many times, we hear, “She’s stronger…..he’s better…” Stop! Be proud of others and also acknowledge that we are all on our own journey. Comparison is a thief, it robs us of joy and present moment awareness.

These are three of the rules that are literally life-changers for people. I hear from students all the time how they’re catching themselves saying or thinking something negative. It’s such a simple thing to change a thought. But science is proving just how powerful it is for us. Positive thoughts boost immune function, lower heart rate, etc.

We have aerial fitness classes, our summer camps are super fun AND educational. The field trips are loved by parents, educators, AND the kids. They don’t know they’re learning because they’re having so much fun.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Meditation is key. Know that you will attract the right people, at the right time, at the right place. Know that you are being guided. Have faith in your ability. Do what brings you passion. Believe in yourself. And focus on the present moment. Yes, strategize and have long-term goals. But pay attention to who comes into your life, the opportunities that come to you because there is a flow of Universal intelligence that is orchestrating random meetings and chance encounters.

Follow what is in front of you. These are key to attracting the abundance we deserve. These are key to finding and living your dream and achieving goals.
