Meet Stephanie Erker of Midwest Family Eyecare

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Erker.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am a native Kansas Citian – I grew up in Lenexa, Kansas. I went to undergraduate school at University of Kansas where I majored in Human Biology. Afterwards. I completed my doctorate degree at the University of Missouri – St Louis. This is where I met Laura Brammer.
Dr Brammer and I grew up close to one other, had several mutual friends but did not meet until optometry school. After graduation, I joined a practice in Missouri, while she started her career in Kansas. Eventually, we both were working at the same clinic.
When Dr Littlefield was interested in retiring, Laura and I thought it was a good time to transition from our previous practice. We took over Littlefield Optometry in 2024 and transformed it into Midwest Family Eyecare – merging Dr Littlefield passionate care with our updates. Dr. Laura Brammer and I love our patients and strive to provide personalized care.
We are in our second year of our practice – continuing to grow and help the community with maintaining healthy eyes for healthy vision.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Transitioning from Littlefield Optometry which had such a strong history in the community (4 generations of optometrists!) was intimidating but after meeting with Dr Littlefield, we knew we would keep his standards with continued excellence care with the latest technology. After 18 months, we are getting into a great flow with clinic, have amazing staff – I think we have figured out how to make Midwest Family Eyecare the updated version of the previous practice.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
