Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharon Murry.
Hi Sharon, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey began in a small town in Mississippi, raised by a strong and resilient single mother who worked long hours to provide for our family. She instilled in me the values of hard work, faith, and perseverance—values that have shaped every step of my career.
I started in the medical field over 25 years ago as a Certified Nursing Assistant. I quickly became a Certified Medical Assistant and spent over two decades specializing in phlebotomy and laboratory work. I’ve always been passionate about patient care, but I also saw a gap—people who needed diagnostic services but lacked access due to mobility, transportation, or convenience challenges.
That’s what inspired me to start Murry Mobile Lab—a concierge diagnostic service that brings lab testing directly to the client. From Point-of-Care testing and DNA testing to therapeutic phlebotomy and drug screenings, we meet people where they are—literally. Whether it’s in their homes, workplaces, or care facilities, we aim to deliver high-quality, compassionate service on-site.
I’ve expanded into mentoring others who want to become their own boss by offering hands-on guidance and support. When I started, I didn’t have anyone to mentor me—no one to show me where to begin or how to navigate the process of launching a mobile lab. That’s why it means so much to me now to be that resource for others. It’s incredibly rewarding to not only serve the community through my services but also to help the next generation of healthcare professionals’ step confidently into entrepreneurship.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. When I first started, I didn’t have a mentor or anyone to guide me through launching a mobile lab. I had to figure out everything on my own—from licensing and compliance to equipment and marketing—while still working full-time. It was a lot to juggle, and at times, I felt overwhelmed and unsure if I was doing it right.
Finances were also a challenge. I didn’t have investors or a big budget, so I had to build slowly, step by step, using what I had. And as a Black woman entrepreneur, there were times when I had to work twice as hard just to be seen and taken seriously.
Even today, I still face challenges. Marketing, landing contracts, and finding consistent clients are ongoing hurdles. I’m currently working on getting credentialed with Medicare and other insurance companies, which is a process that takes time and persistence. Funding continues to be a challenge as well, but I stay committed because I believe in the mission behind what I do.
Through it all, I’ve learned to keep showing up—even on the hard days—and to stay focused on the bigger picture: providing accessible, compassionate care and creating opportunities for others to do the same.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I currently work in Clinical Research as a Clinical Research Associate, and I’m also the owner and CEO of Murry Mobile Lab, a concierge diagnostic testing service that brings lab work directly to clients—whether that’s in their home, workplace, or care facility. We specialize in Point-of-Care testing, therapeutic phlebotomy, DNA testing, drug screenings (including DOT and 12-panel), general specimen collection, and Direct Access Lab Testing—no doctor’s order needed.
In addition to running the lab, I offer mentorship to individuals who want to start their own mobile lab or develop their skills in phlebotomy and medical assisting.
I’m incredibly proud to have launched Murry Mobile Lab as a Black woman with no formal background in entrepreneurship—just a willingness to learn and the perseverance my mother instilled in me. Her strength and resilience taught me that anything is possible with hard work and faith.
What sets me apart is the level of care and experience I bring to every client interaction. With over 25 years in the medical field and more than two decades of phlebotomy experience, I deliver high-quality, compassionate care that people can trust. I’m also deeply committed to empowering others. My mentorship is hands-on and grounded in real-world experience because I know what it’s like to start from scratch without guidance. I aim to be the support system for others that I didn’t have when I started.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5 to 10 years, I believe both clinical research and mobile diagnostic testing will continue to evolve rapidly—driven by technology, accessibility, and the growing demand for personalized, patient-centered care.
In mobile diagnostics, I see a major shift toward convenience-based care. More people are prioritizing services that come to them—whether at home or work—especially as telehealth and remote monitoring become more mainstream. Mobile labs like mine will play a bigger role in bridging the gap between patients and providers, particularly for underserved or hard-to-reach communities. I also expect to see more partnerships between mobile diagnostic companies and healthcare systems, insurance providers, and even corporate wellness programs.
On the clinical research side, there’s a clear push toward decentralized trials and more inclusive patient recruitment. Mobile phlebotomy and lab collection services will be critical to making trials more accessible and diverse. I also think AI and digital tools will reshape how data is collected, managed, and shared—making studies more efficient and patient-friendly.
Overall, the future of this industry is leaning heavily toward accessibility, innovation, and equity—and I’m excited to be a part of that movement.
