Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharita Rush.
Hi Sharita, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey into entrepreneurship really took off in 2018 when I was laid off from my corporate IT job. At the time, I could have viewed it as a setback, but instead, I chose to see it as an opportunity to bet on myself. I had started building my real estate business just six months earlier, so I decided to take a leap of faith and go at it full-time.
Since then, I’ve been a full-time entrepreneur. The journey hasn’t always been easy, but it has taught me resilience, discipline, patience, and the importance of continuing to move forward when things don’t go as planned. Entrepreneurship has truly built my character, challenged me, and pushed me far outside of my comfort zone.
In 2023, I took another leap and started my home care business. I wanted to create another avenue to serve others and make a meaningful impact in the community. What started as a new business venture has grown to serving 30 clients, and continuing to grow. It has been incredibly rewarding to see the business develop while knowing that we are making a difference in the lives of individuals and their families.
Today, both businesses reflect what I value most: building relationships, creating opportunities, serving others, and making my visions become my realty. Looking back, being laid off in 2018 was actually the catalyst that changed my life. It pushed me to bet on myself, take a leap of faith, and create my own path—and I’m incredibly grateful for where that decision has taken me.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Entrepreneurship has definitely come with its share of challenges. There have been a lot of highs and lows along the way, and one of the biggest adjustments was learning to navigate the uncertainty that comes with being a business owner rather than having the stability of a traditional career.
There have been plenty of moments when things didn’t go according to plan, and I’ve had to learn to adapt, be patient, and keep moving forward. Building businesses from the ground up also requires wearing many different hats, making difficult decisions without much help or direction from anyone else, and always learning along the way.
While those experiences haven’t always been easy, they have been some of my greatest teachers. They’ve helped me become more resilient, confident, and comfortable taking risks. I’ve learned that challenges don’t have to define you—they can help you grow, become stronger, and better prepare you for what’s next.
Ultimately, my faith and confidence in knowing that I can overcome anything with God by my side has given me the strength to face every challenge, keep moving forward, and come out stronger on the other side.
As you know, we’re big fans of Realtor with Platinum Realty and Owner of BeLoved Home Care Services. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My real estate business is focused on helping individuals and families navigate the buying, selling, and investing process. I’ve always believed real estate is about more than transactions—it’s about building relationships, understanding people’s goals, and helping them make confident decisions.
My home care business, however, is especially meaningful to me. We provide compassionate, reliable care that allows seniors and individuals who need assistance to remain comfortable and independent in their own homes. Our services are centered around the individual and their family, with a strong focus on dignity, respect, companionship, and quality of life.
What sets us apart is that we truly care about the people behind the service. Home care is personal, and families are trusting us with someone they love. We take that responsibility seriously and strive to provide not only dependable care, but also peace of mind for families.
I’m most proud of building businesses that are relationship-driven and service-focused. Whether I’m helping someone achieve their real estate goals or helping a family with quality care for a loved one, my goal is the same: to serve people well, build trust, and make a positive impact in my community.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always very outgoing, energetic, and involved. I was a cheerleader and participated in school and church choir, school plays, and took dance classes. Dancing is still one of my favorite hobbies that bring me so much joy. Being involved in so many different activities growing up has taught me how to work with different types of people, be part of a team, communicate effectively, and appreciate that everyone has their own personality, experiences, and perspective. I’ve always been a social butterfly and have never been one to shy away from meeting new people. I genuinely enjoy building relationships and making people feel welcome and comfortable.
Looking back, I think many of the qualities I had growing up—being social, confident, energetic, and understanding has helped me successfully and effectively work well with people both personally and professionally.
