Meet Shannon Stafford of Jackson, MO

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Stafford.

Shannon, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My love of baking started with Christmas baking with my mom as a young child. Over the years my baking turned into a passion. Owning a bakery was always a pipe dream in my mind, but my fiancé now husband found a local cookie bakery for sale during the pandemic in 2020. After many long discussions we decided to take the risk. Owning a restaurant or food business is always a risk but especially starting one during the pandemic.

So we opened in Nov of 2020 three weeks after we got married and I officially moved to Jackson. To say the first years were crazy is an understatement. We now pride ourselves on putting out made from scratch desserts, catering, and more

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s definitely been a bumpy road. I was a retail manager for years but I had no idea how to run my own business. We made many mistakes and have definitely grown a lot to be where we are. We are always learning.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are most proud of how much our cake artistry has grown over the years from our first cakes to our ones today is such a huge difference. We are also proud to say everything we do is made from scratch and we do everything we can to be sustainable and use every scrap we can. For example, our cake pops are made from cake scraps.

What matters most to you? Why?
Family. Family is everything. Nothing comes before that and we want everyone that comes to our bakery to feel like family
